A native south Texan, Mario Bosquez overcame
poverty, domestic violence and discrimination to become a multi-faceted
communicator in the world’s number one television market. His 25-year career
has been a study in contrasts. For years, Mario worked as a reporter, anchor and
''PM Magazine'' co-host while living in a government-sponsored home and
struggling to help support his family.
His work as a broadcast journalist includes live coverage of the World Trade
Center disaster, Pope John Paul’s trip to Cuba and the 1999 earthquake in
Colombia. An award-winning playwright, Mario's play ''Los Duendes''/''The
Restless Spirits'' has been performed in Houston and New York City. Mario is
dedicated to speaking to Latino students and organizations about education and
''breaking the cycle'' of low self-esteem that results from poverty, abuse and
racism. Mario also takes to the standup comedy stage to chronicle his
experiences as a fourth-generation Tejano. He has performed in the Toyota and
Jack Daniels/Latino Comedy Festivals as well as clubs in New York and Chicago.
Mario has been recognized by President George Bush Sr. and ''Americares'' for
his work in covering the Colombia Earthquake. He has also been recognized by the
city of New York for his contributions to the media and has received numerous
other awards and recognition for his work as Latino journalist.
Mario lives in New York City.
